“This isn’t good luck, this is goodbye.”
I can’t wait for the new Hot Hot Heat album. Seriously.
I also can’t wait for the next bluestate. I thought about doing an all-Scandinavian set, or a Fjord Fiesta, as rj3 called it, because I could definitely fill an hour with Scandinavian indie-pop, but I really want to play Hot Hot Heat’s first single, “Goodnight Goodnight,” and Diamond Nights’ “The Girl’s Attractive,” so I’ll save the Fjord Fiesta for another bluestate.
While I’ve been working hard for Team America:
• DCist did a great music agenda for the month of February.
• DCeiver gave props to bluestate. And bluestate loves you back, baby.
• ZZ sent me a copy of Dusty Springfield’s Dusty in Memphis. Thanks, ZZ. I listened to it once already but need to revisit.
• I got my first issue of Teen People in the mail. Awesome. Thanks again, MG.
• I got a review copy of Joy Zipper’s American Whip, to which I will devote time this weekend.
I feel a bit iffy today (riding the Metro to and from work makes me paranoid about getting sick), so I’m staying in tonight, but here are some things I might do this weekend:
• Go to WAG at the Black Cat on Saturday night.
• Or, perhaps spend Saturday night celebrating DC 9's first anniversary, featuring a special (read: free) Liberation Dance Party.
• See Hide and Seek, because I’m a sucker for Dakota Fanning and stupid horror movies with creepy kids in general.
If you're looking for something musical to do tonight, I've been reading good things about Exit Clov, who are having a CD release party at the Black Cat.

I didn’t know anything about blog memes until Michael hit me with one. Interesting concept tied to a simple practice. Anyway, here it goes:
1. What is the total amount of music files on your computer?
I kept most of my music files on a computer at work, and had to delete them all when I switched jobs a few weeks ago. They’re all on my iPod now, 16 GB or so of them.
2. The CD you last bought is:
Album: On CD, Lasse Lindh, You Wake Up at Sea Tac, and Cinnamon, Courier. On vinyl, Franz Ferdinand.
Single: Do EPs count for this purpose? If so, The Hard Tomorrows’ 5 Songs.
Download: Full album? Kings of Convenience, Quiet is the New Loud. Single? Hot Hot Heat’s “Goodnight Goodnight” from stereogum and whatever scenestars, fluxblog, The Big Ticket and TTIKTDA have posted lately. Actually, I didn’t pay for any of those songs. I don’t think I’ve ever paid for a download. I buy enough CDs as it is.
3. What is the song you last listened to before reading this message?
“Soldier,” Destiny’s Child. I was flipping through the radio stations on the way to work.
4. Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.
In the last past week I’ve been hitting repeat on:
“Jolene,” Dolly Parton
“Goodnight Goodnight,” Hot Hot Heat
“Streets of Baltimore,” Graham Parsons
“Crown of Love,” The Arcade Fire
“The Girl’s Attractive,” Diamond Nights
5. Who are you going to pass this stick to? and why?
MG, RJ and Rhinestone – because I like their taste in music, of course.
